Hundertwasser - The Green City

Sejong Museum of Art, Seoul, Korea The exhibition will focus on Hundertwasser’s innovative commitment to a more human architecture in harmony with nature that unfolded from his belief in the power of nature and the individual creativity. He proclaimed his pioneering positions with manifestos, speeches and demonstrations, in which he denounced the functionality of contemporary architecture, the prevailing rationalism and sterile grid system and pleaded for a creative building freedom and the right of individual building alterations. Since the 1970ies, Hundertwasser’s architectural models and architecture projects had a crucial influence on the movement for sustainable architecture. His projects about the restoration of the cities through roof afforestation and "tree tenants" growing out of windows have proved their foresight and validity for the future. On show will be c. 30 original paintings, graphic works, tapestries, environmental posters, humus toilet, water purification plant, architecture drawings, architecture models and a photo documentation. |
